Like many sculptors Sculi worked only with materials having their own aspects, stone, wood, metal, so-called noble materials. Then he encountered a practically transparent neutral material with very interesting plastic properties with which he could create his own nuances of tones and finally be able to use color in his plastic creation while mastering it. This revelation gave him the possibility to realize his own matter.
